Lakou

Your practice. Your pace. Your app.

Your practice. Your pace. Your app.

Most project management tools were built for someone else — and then handed to architects. Lakou wasn’t. It was built from the actual frustrations of running a small practice: client texts that disappear into the ether, fee burn you don’t catch until it’s too late, folder structures that only make sense if you invented them, and “productivity” apps that talk to you like you’re a sales team instead of a sole practitioner with a drafting table and a backlog.

Lakou — Haitian Kreyòl for the courtyard around which a household lives — is named for the place where everything in a home converges. That’s the metaphor. Every text, every receipt, every hour of work, every milestone reminder lands in one quiet place. No teams. No leaderboards. No enterprise dashboards. Just one architect, one phone, one tool that finally fits the way the work actually moves.

Built for one person, on purpose

Lakou is for solo architects and very small practices — the people running their own LLC out of a converted garage, a back bedroom, or an office above a hardware store. If you bill flat fees, work out of a strict folder taxonomy, get most of your project comms by text, and lose half a day a month chasing where you put a receipt — Lakou speaks your language.

What’s inside

  • Capture from anywhere. A client texts you “site visit Friday foundation pour 23AC-08.” Long-press, share to Lakou, and it lands in the right project’s 04 Meeting Agendas and Reports folder with the firm’s filename convention. AI parses the message into structured action items, dates, and a clean note. You confirm the project; Lakou files it. Capture takes one tap.

  • The folder taxonomy you already use. Lakou knows the standard 10-folder project template and uses it as the canonical layout. Every new project scaffolds the entire tree from your sample folder structure on creation. Existing projects can be browsed in Dropbox and imported one tap each — Lakou never invents folder names, never asks you to learn a new structure.

  • Time vs. fee, not time vs. budget. Lakou tracks hours so you know whether you’re billing accurately, not to bill by the hour. The “Worth a look” dashboard widget surfaces projects whose tracked time has crossed the contract fee — the report that tells you where you’re working for free.

  • Receipts in three taps. Camera, project, save. Lakou writes the JPG and a sibling JSON metadata file directly to 01 Accounting/03 Expenses with the canonical filename. Reimbursable vs. flat-fee gets a single tag.

  • The Friday slot. A standing weekly invoice-prep reminder. No invoicing — QuickBooks already does that. Lakou just nudges you when it’s time and shows a copy-to-clipboard summary you paste straight into your accounting software.

  • The drafting-table aesthetic. Lakou doesn’t look like a corporate productivity app. Cream paper canvas, hairline cards, JetBrains Mono metadata, Inter content, dimension-line progress indicators, and a title-block header on every screen. Built for the way an architect’s eye actually works.

  • A different kind of gamification. No XP. No streaks. No confetti. Instead: a chop strip that quietly accumulates as you work, a monospace ledger that records the day’s actions like a site log, and a warm-shifting cream background that deepens from morning to evening. The reward is the page looking lived-in by the end of the day, not a score going up.

Architect the Game

Android v1.0.0 · 7.6 MB

Live the architecture career nobody warned you about.

Sleep is for the licensed.

Architect the Game is a text-driven life simulation built on real data from the architecture profession. Choose your school. Survive studio culture. Manage your money, stress, energy, and relationships semester by semester. Graduate — and discover that was only the beginning.

From your first all-nighter to your licensing exams, every decision branches. Every choice costs something.

School

Pick your path: Ivy League, state school, HBCU, experimental program, or community college transfer. Each one sets your tuition, your network, your class size, and how many years until you hold a degree. Apply for scholarships. Pick up freelance CAD gigs. Call your mother on the walk home from a restaurant shift. The money pressure is real because the real numbers are real.

Studio

Pin your boards to the wall. Present to the jury. The crit voice comes out automatically. A visiting starchitect tears apart your concept in front of twenty classmates — defend your position, accept it gracefully, or hold it together until the bathroom. Studio culture is the core of the game because it’s the core of the profession.

Career

Land your first job. Learn what a door schedule is. Watch your custom facade get value-engineered into EIFS. Navigate office politics, RFI avalanches, and the contractor who actually reads your drawings. Build a reputation — or burn out trying.

The ARE

Study for months. Pay thousands. Sit for the exam. Pass or fail. Repeat. The licensing gauntlet is in the game because it’s the gate every architect walks through.

Your Life

Life doesn’t pause for deadlines. Family emergencies, relationships, mental health, financial crises, and identity all shape the path. Some events are choices. Some just happen. The game tracks what matters: Design, Technical, Communication, Management, Business, Money, Energy, Stress, Reputation, Network, and Portfolio.

Features

  • Multiple school paths with real tuition pressure and scholarship mechanics
  • Studio events sourced from real architect experiences — crits, charrettes, plotter failures, and 3 AM model collapses
  • Identity-aware events — your background shapes which doors open easily and which ones don’t
  • Career progression from intern to licensed architect to firm owner — or out of the profession entirely
  • Full ARE exam arc
  • Dozens of branching events with stat consequences
  • Multiple endings — licensure, firm ownership, career pivot, burnout, teaching, tech, or walking away
  • Dry, dark, architecture-specific humor throughout

Built from NCARB reports, NAAB program data, AIA surveys, and hundreds of real stories from architects, students, and people who left the profession.

“I designed a museum. I built a CVS.”

If you get that joke, this game was made for you.

ShambaWorks

Android v1.0.0 · 17.7 MB

Plan your flower bed at the nursery. Smart layouts, spacing, and budgeting.

ShambaWorks. Your garden. Your budget. Your plan.

ShambaWorks is a flower bed planning app that goes to the nursery with you. Snap a photo of your bed, enter its dimensions, then browse and add flowers as you shop — the app organizes them by height, bloom time, and spacing to generate a balanced, beautiful layout. Set a budget and ShambaWorks adjusts your plan to match, giving you a visual planting map and a shopping list with totals before you check out.

How it works

Start at home — photograph your flower bed and enter its dimensions. Tell the app your city and it automatically knows your USDA hardiness zone, so every suggestion fits your climate.

Then head to the nursery. As you browse, search for flowers by common or scientific name and add them to your project with their price. When you’re done shopping, tap Generate and ShambaWorks builds your layout:

  • Tallest flowers in the back, shortest up front
  • Proper spacing based on each plant’s needs
  • Bloom times balanced so your bed has color all season
  • A clear top-down visual map with colored circles showing exactly where each plant goes

Budget-friendly planning

Enter your budget and ShambaWorks adjusts — reducing quantities and spacing to bring your plan in line with what you want to spend. See your total cost update before you reach the register.

Don’t love the layout? Hit regenerate.

Every tap gives you a fresh arrangement that still follows smart planting rules. Keep going until you find the one that feels right. No limits.

What you get

  • A visual planting map — colored circles on your bed outline, sized to each plant’s spread
  • A plant legend with names, quantities, and colors
  • A cost breakdown — per flower and total
  • A plan that accounts for height, spacing, bloom season, and your hardiness zone

Built for real gardeners

ShambaWorks — from the Swahili word shamba, meaning a cultivated garden — was built for people who want a great-looking flower bed without hiring a landscaper. It meets you where you are: at the nursery, phone in hand, making real decisions about real plants.

Features

  • Rectangular bed setup with photo reference
  • Automatic USDA hardiness zone from your city
  • Real-time flower search powered by plant databases
  • Fuzzy name matching — close enough still finds it
  • Per-flower pricing and budget constraints
  • Height-tiered, bloom-optimized layout generation
  • Unlimited layout regeneration
  • Local caching — flowers you’ve looked up are always available

Coming soon

  • Multiple beds per project
  • PDF export of layouts and shopping lists
  • Freeform and curved bed shapes
  • Expanded plant database coverage

BalyeCleaner

Windows v1.0.0 · 36 MB

Sweep your project folders clean. Find and remove outdated Revit and AutoCAD backup files in one pass.

Balye — Haitian Kreyol for "to sweep."

BalyeCleaner scans your project folders for the backup files that pile up silently — Revit's numbered backups (.0001.rvt, .0002.rvt, etc.) and AutoCAD's .bak files — compares each one against its parent file, and tells you exactly what's safe to remove and what isn't.

If a backup is older than its parent, it's outdated. BalyeCleaner marks it for deletion. If a backup is newer than its parent — meaning work may have been saved to the backup but not the main file — BalyeCleaner flags it, keeps both files, and highlights the row so you can review it before touching anything.

How it works

  • Pick a folder. BalyeCleaner walks every subfolder recursively, finding every Revit and AutoCAD backup that has a matching parent file. Orphaned backups with no parent are ignored.
  • Review the results. A sortable, resizable table shows every backup found — file type, name, parent, dates, status, and size. Filter by "Safe to Delete" or "Needs Review." Hover over any status badge for a plain-English explanation of what "Older" or "Newer" means.
  • Delete with confidence. Select individual files or hit "Select All Safe" to check every outdated backup at once. Confirm, and BalyeCleaner removes them. Files that are locked or in use get skipped and reported — nothing is forced.
  • Export and log. Before or after deletion, export the full scan to Excel. The final log includes sheets for deleted files, kept files, any failures, and a summary with total space freed.

Details

  • Detects Revit backups by the .####.rvt naming pattern (case-insensitive)
  • Detects AutoCAD backups by matching .bak files to their .dwg parent
  • Compares file modification timestamps — no content hashing, no false positives
  • Handles locked files gracefully (Revit files open in a session won't cause errors)
  • Works on local drives and mapped network drives
  • Standalone .exe — no Python, no runtime, no installer. Just run it.

Built for

  • Architects cleaning up project archives before delivery or backup
  • BIM managers maintaining shared model folders
  • Anyone whose Revit project folder has 47 copies of the same file and 12 GB of dead weight

No signup. No cloud. No tracking. One exe, one sweep, done.
